June Mission: Mercy Ships
Mercy Ships, a global charity, has operated a fleet of hospital ships in developing nations since 1978. Following the example of Jesus, Mercy Ships, bring hope and healing to the poor, mobilizing people and resources worldwise. Mercy Ships' volunteer doctors perform life-changing surgeires on the floating hospitals and operate village clinics near the ports. Other volunteers provide clean water by drilling wells and providing water pumps. Construction projects, such as building hospitals and basic housing, and agricultural projects help communities become self-sufficient in food production. Mercy Ships bring hope and healing to the poor.

Second Service Attendees: Your Input Is Needed By August 1, 2008

The Worship Committee met recently to discuss the Vision Plan items that pertain to worship at Grace Church. It was brought to the committee's attention that there is an issue with timing that results in an overlap with Sunday School, Donut Sunday and Grace Cakes, and the start of the second service. In order for the choirs to prepare for the second service, they must leave Sunday School several minutes early. If a Sunday School class runs even a few minutes late, it can make the service start late. Others have expressed the desire to have more time for fellowship between the two services.
After much discussion, it was suggested that we should investigate the possibility of changing the second service time from 10:40am to 11:00am. This would allow all who attend Sunday School to leave class at 10:30am and have plenty of time to prepare for choir and the contemporary service and would allow for more time for fellowship prior to the start of the second service.
The Worship Committee would like your feedback as to the suggested time change and any questions or comments you wish to make including alternative time suggestions. The goal is to make all events at Grace fully available to everyone who wishes to participate and to create a less stressful worship morning for all.
The Committee will meet again August 5th to discuss the feedback and determine what to recommend to the Ad Council at their meeting the following week. Any change that might take place would be announced several weeks before it would begin. The results will be made known in August via the Bulletin and the Church Website.
Please use the form below to submit your comments and concerns or feel free to speak directly to any member of the committee. Thank you.

How do you feel about the proposed time change for the second service from 10:40am to 11am? (Name is required so that we may follow up with you if necessary.)

You are welcome to take park in Bike the Canyon, a fundraiser for Grace Youth that supports their activities like concerts, mission trips, etc. We take bikes and riders to Ansonia, PA and ride the Rails to Trails to Rattlesnake Rock, a three hour, 20 mile scenic glide (all downhill) through the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. We have bike racks and a trailer to haul them.  Participation is easy. Pick up a sponsor form and get as many sponsors as you can. Then come out and enjoy a terrific day of fellowship that includes a tasty picnic, an easy bike ride and amazing scenery. Sponsors, drivers and volunteers are also needed. To learn more, to get your sponsor form, or to volunteer, see Tom Deardorff.
