We, the congregation of Grace United Methodist Church, invite you to share in worship with us as we experience God’s grace and love in our lives.
Please come and join our fellowship in a variety of different Christian based programs.
These programs help us to grow in faith and enhance spiritual growth as well as help us to learn the ways of Jesus.
The Flame and the Cross, What Do They Mean?
The symbol of the cross and the flame is the official emblem of the United Methodist Church. The flame represents the coming of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. (The Bible tells us in the Book of Acts)
Holy Spirit – exercises the power of the Creator and the Redeemer in creation and in our forgiveness. Because the Holy Spirit is the power by which believers come to Christ and see with new eyes of faith, the Spirit is closer to us than we are to ourselves.
The cross – represents the forgiving love of God as revealed in the serving ministry of Jesus (The Bible in the Book of Hebrews 12:2).
The union of the Holy Spirit and Jesus lifts the promise and confidence of our salvation, which gives hope to the entire world.
